Every Single Fraternity Ranked

i never said that * I* considered them to be top houses…i actually didnt really like one of the houses

were psi u and sig pi using hard drugs?

thumpty is known nationally for weed but not sure if they manage to evade cornell action b/c they dont do the hard drugs

Psi U press release said nothing about drugs and sig pi was about drinking. And yes they are considered top houses.

drinking? dont all frat houses serve alcohol? was this about incidents involving alcohol?

sig pi’s thanksgiving dinner resulted in the hospitalization of potential members because of alcohol-related activities

shame…they were a great house…

sig pi and psi u are considered top houses by most people. they might not necessarily be “top” in your opinion or in mine but by general consensus they were. and thumpty is not nationally known for weed.

sig pi and psi u are considered top houses because they mix with “top sororities”. its a self fufilling prophecy-how many people actually credit them as being a really great party house? i would say that the “middle tier” frats have the best parties and are not snobby about anything. psi u never has big open parties. the few times i have been there its small and invite only.
and every house has people who smoke weed in it, hello, its college, half the people you know probably smoke weed. and there are people in every house who do hard drugs. its all a matter of how conspicous they are about that stuff to people who arent close friends of the house

definitely 100% agreed. fraternities are considered “top” because they mix with the “top sororities.” even so, i’ve heard numerous accounts of girls in these sororities acting stuck up during a mixer at the “top” fraternities. however, a lot of time girls in top sororities get a lot of **** for being stuck up even though some of them are ridiculously genuinely nice. and i’ve also seen girls in middle tier and lower tier houses think that they’re the hottest **** in the world.

in regards to drugs, while weed may be prevalent and a lot of houses on campus, hard drugs are much more prevalent in the “top” houses.

I don’t like to rank the houses, because I sincerely believe that it’s all about the overused “fit” word. That being said, I am in a sorority that would be considered “top tier” by those who rank. Anyway, I agree with Quick - you cannot pigeonhole people’s personalities/looks by the so-called ranking systems of their houses. As I said before, I have female and male friends in various houses and there are idiots and nice people at all them (and good-looking and uggos at all of them). My sorority doesn’t currently mix with some of the houses where my favorite guys are ;)

For the record, I didn’t join my sorority because of its rank. I knew a lot of girls in the house who I felt comfortable with and they encouraged me to seriously consider their house. I do love my sorority, but it doesn’t limit me to meeting and hanging out with other people.

*Even though I don’t like to rank houses - the only reason I mentioned in an earlier post that Fiji didn’t belong in the top tier was because the OP’s ranking was a blatant advertisement for Fiji by randomly ranking other houses… in other words, it infuriates me to put other houses down just to inflate/advertise you own.

agreed 100%.

my favorite fraternities are DU, Chi Phi, FIJI, SAE, Phi Tau, Delta Chi. Notice how none of them are considered “top” houses besides SAE. However, I loved these houses during rush week and clicked with most of the guys.

My favorite sororities are alpha phi, tridelt, theta, pi phi. Again no mention of Kappa or DG. Not to say that I don’t know girls in Kappa or DG who are amazing.

In the end what I’m trying to say is that ranking doesn’t matter at all. It’s about the person; not the house. And don’t ever simply write someone off or stereotype them because they are in house X.

all this talk about ranks in making my head hurt

The best frat party I’ve ever been to was in DTD…and they’re called Dorks that drink lol.

Theta Drug parties sucked every time I went there, also the ones in the white house across the street (Sig Pi?) were really dumb too.

I think rankings are also influenced by how cool their members are perceived to be on campus, and by the quality of their alumni. The best parties are not actually in the highest ranked frats.

Again, my favorite is DTD…

i think alpha delt and Fiji threw my favorite parties this year. but they were great in different ways, just like the frat. i have been pretty much everywhere and they are all pretty fun depending on whjat your idea of a “good frat party” is and LOL how drunk you are! it is always better when you knowbrothers or pledges, so i think everyone has a few favorite houses based off that.

I still find it hilarious that someone is putting out a guide to rush seven months premature.

I’m beating a dead horse at this point, but rankings don’t mean anything. Every house wants to get a good class and the right size that fits their goals. And there is a fraternity for everyone, I truly believe that.

My only opinion is that I think its a bad idea when fraternity pledge classes balloon to sizes of 20+ guys. That’s a really bad idea, unless the fraternity is hurting for members. How can you possibly expect to know everyone in your class PLUS your house if there are so many people? I would kill to find out how many times FIJIs pledges had to do things over and over because they admitted a class of 29 guys and they probably couldn’t remember everyone’s names.

its really not that hard considering people are on sports teams with numbers in the thirities and manage to remember everyones name. i dont think an outsider to any frats with larger pledge classes should be critical of that fact-if thats what works for their house then its their decision. what difference does it make to you if houses have upwards of 20 guys? or if they have only 5 or 6? i think most of the houses including fiji are pretty happy by the end of pledging regardless of pledge class size, or else they drop out.

I agree that pledge classes that are 15-20 people seem best. But if sororities can have pledge classes of like 40 people I guess frats can have 20 something…it just won’t be as close of a pledge class.

bump (10 char) :)

Don’t bump these biased rankings. The best rankings came from the thread last year…these just don’t compare.

This message goes out to all the Cornell Freshmen,
DO NOT TRUST THIS RANKINGS
I repeat, DO NOT TRUST THIS RANKINGS
this rankings are from a persepctive of few individuals who favor certain fraternities. They’re trying to lure you guys into their houses. My advice is go around all the houses during the rush week and you find out for yourselves who is upper tier and lower tier.

I don’t know- I’m a freshman going through rush week right now and aside from the designations of “lower” and “upper” tier being too black and white, these seem to tally pretty well with my experiences so far. It’s also really helpful to have the descriptions/stereotypes so I know which frats to give a pass. For example, I was going to check out Phi psi, but then I found out it’s for football players, etc.
