Everything safe with the fires?

I hope that everything and everyone at Coastal Carolina is OK with the fires around Myrtle Beach. I have not been able to figure out where they are in relationship to you all, but my thoughts are with you hoping everything is safe.</p>

<p>I am a MT student at Coastal Carolina. Thank you for your concerns.</p>

<p>The university is fine and out of reach from the fire. However, some of our faculty and students live in a development that was close to the fire. They were at one point on stand by to evacuate but, never ended up having to. </p>

<p>The fire is almost out. Yesterday, they said that they were 60% in control of it.</p>

<p>However, the last I heard, the fire had burnt 19,000 acres of land and burnt down 70 homes. </p>

<p>The fire was started by someone who was burning leaves. Sadly, they have only been given a $750 ticket thus far. </p>
