Although I’m sure that this is pretty commonplace, it’s annoying me quite a bit.
For the past two or so years, my interests have been fluctuating, making it a difficult decision as to what I want to study in college. I fully immersed myself into foreign affairs for about a year, law for about 8 months, and quantum mechanics+relativity for the past 4 or so months.
These are clearly three totally different interests, and I’m wondering what some CC users have done when faced with the same problem.
It’s not really a problem, but it’s more than commonplace - I think there are probably far more high school students who are unsure of their interests/career path than those who are already dead-set on one specific thing.
The good news is that you don’t have to decide now! The vast majority of colleges will let you apply undecided, and some even encourage it. (Not to mention that people often change majors, go to grad school for something totally different than what they studied in undergrad, get multiple degrees in unrelated fields, change careers, etc.)
