Exact Class Rank

Is it actually important? Just wondering since my class has like 1,300 people and it’s obviously much harder to be at the top of the class than a high school with less people.

It’s theoretically harder to be at the TOP top, like #1-10 when there’s more people because of the diversity of competition. On the other hand, I thought colleges looked at class rank in terms of percent like top 5% or something. So, in that case, there would be a much broader margin for the top x%. For instance, in my high school class of like 800 people, you can be number seventy-something and still be in the top 10%… If your class has 100 people and you’re number seventy-something, then…well…that sucks.

Yeah, that makes sense. Honestly, I feel like the larger the class the less important/accurate class rank becomes. More students means more teachers, more teachers means more diversity in how hard/easy they are, etc etc…

They take Into consideration the number of your class…

Yeah, they consider your number of classmates. Like I’m 13/580 at my school, but that would likely make me salutatorian in a class of 100. They take this scaling into consideration.

I think the percentage matters more (it just seems more logical).
