Exactly how do time conflicts in a schedule work?

I’ve only seen it happen once where a friend of mine was taking two classes in the same quarter that occurred at the same time. On his visual schedule, that time with the two concurrent classes will just be split down the middle and have both sections on either side. Now that’s great and all, but is this just as simple as the person having to choose which one to attend at that given time (if either at all)? Or are there other ways of going about it? I’d assume participation, tests, and whatnot would be a real pain. I suppose you could just go to one and get the notes for the other class from a friend. The student handbook says on page 39 that you need to go to 225 Schmitz Hall and register in person to do it, but I’m just wondering how the quarter would progress after one does that.

I did that last quarter. I would really recommend avoiding it if you can. You do have to go down to Schmitz and register in person (if it’s less than an hour of conflict per week, you can do it with no note, if it’s more, you need signatures from both teachers).

I had 20 or 30 minutes of overlap once a week (Tuesday). At the very beginning of the quarter, it wasn’t so bad, but then one of my classes got moved to the Ocean Teaching Building (the other class I had at the same time was in Smith Hall). This made it totally impossible for me to make it to both classes, so I ended up missing one of my classes every single Tuesday. Really not ideal, and it was a big pain.
