Exactly how liberal would you consider Stanford and Columbia?

Just a random question!
Stanford and Columbia both seem like crazy liberal schools, but Stanford seems to be the one that caters more to the hipster, suburban kind of student.
Also, at which school do you guys consider the students to be more studious and over achieving? It seems like Stanford has a very laidback feel and so also tends to have students who are more into the greek life/fratty side which I find surprising, when you compare it to other schools around its level, because it is such a good school (but at the same time not so surprising because it’s in sunny california)

Anyway, which would you guys choose if you hypothetically got into both?

Although Stanford’s percentage in fraternities and sororities is higher than Columbia’s (25% versus 10%), it is lower than Cornell’s (32%) or Dartmouth’s (50% of all undergraduates, 66% of eligible students since frosh are not eligible).
