Exageration in Applications, community service.

I was just wasting time looking at threads the other day and saw that UC schools randomly audit about 10% of their applicants. Do lots of schools audit their applicants? Specifically, does the University of Washington audit any applicants?

I’m just wondering because I’m applying there and I list some places that I did community service but I haven’t done it for a while and I exagerated a little bit about the hours. So if I get audited (Does the UW even audit???) then will I not be considered???

Thanks in advance.

They might. They’d probably call your GC to confirm your story if they suspected anything was untruthful (or as a part of a random audit)…

lying on your application (don’t sugar coat it) is never a good idea, and can easily come back to haunt you. Not just for the one college that happens to notice it either, colleges do communicate with each other and take dishonesty very seriously.
