Exalt Thomas Mahan, Sun Tzu, and The Prince!

<p>These authors were amazing. We should all exalt their greatness on our knees and sing their praises.</p>

<p>I have noticed farthermore that there seems to be a sharp contrast between Sir Halford John Mackinder’s belief in ‘Land Power’ (with the Heartland as the center of the world) and that of Thayer Mahan’s “The Influence of Sea-power Upon History.” The later is a great book but it’s very thick and I can’t muster the time to read it. Has anyone actually read it that could comment on it?</p>

<p>Why is it that no one has any respect for the classic authors? Bismark, Mahan, the Prince…we’ve all revolutionized history and the Art of War. But it seems that I am the only one who appreciates them and their sacrifices. </p>

<p>If not for their sacrifices their teachings would be lost and the current generation would never know their names…which on secound thought, they still don’t know…</p>

<p>WAKE UP SCHOLARS OF HISTORY! THE TIME OF JUDGEMENT AND RECKONING IS AT HAND!</p>

We need discussion on which of these three people was the most infulencial and important in the western…nay the entire world!</p>

<p>Making these simple folk read Sun Tzu straight up is like throwing them into a pool of water filled with Michael Moore’s. Certain death…</p>

<p>Educate these people in steps, for instance recommend them a John Keegan book first. Then move on to something like Sun Tzu, and finish off with Clausewitz. :D</p>

<p>A shame that Keegan, as a modern person seems to have made a number of mistakes in his writings…But that is to be expected at the ancients were always better then modern man. <a href=“http://hnn.us/articles/1792.html[/url]”>http://hnn.us/articles/1792.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>Causewitz is interesting. But so is that Russian guy who turned back Napolean was pretty cool too. Maybe even more cool…But the Prince is THE GUY.</p>
