I am an international student and I don’t really understand the grading system at Berkeley. I understand that letter grade subjects impact my GPA score and that final exams in December impact my GPA too.
Is it true that mid terms impact the GPA? What else impacts your GPA for a class? Do the homework assignments get graded and contribute towards GPA?

The grades and grading system will all depend upon on how the Professor has his class syllabus set up. Some professors will give one or several Mid-term exams and a final exam and each are weighted differently towards a final grade. Some Professors will assign homework that is graded and included in your final grade and some will give grades for class participation. One size does not fit all so on your first day of class, read over each course syllabus for how the class grading is done along with deadlines/dates for projects/exams etc…
Do all final exams last 3 hours? All of the schedules allow for three hour exams.
Again, it depends on the Professor and class. Scheduling may give 3 hours for a final exam, but depending upon how well you know the material, you could leave when finished if you do not need 3 hours.
