I’m trying out for multiple schools for their undergraduate architecture program. They say they’re not looking for superior work, but I’m not good at drawing and have never sketched on my free time. Instead, I’ve taken a photography class and expect my portfolio to have 10 photographs and the rest freehand drawing. Not good? Please show any work you’re submitting/have submitted because I have no idea what to expect. Thanks in advance.

Some schools are very specific about portfolio requirements. Best to check with each school.
As to your drawing, get busy. All it takes is a pencil and some paper. Think sketching more than drawing. Come up with a thought and try and express it on paper. You can complete hundreds of less than one minute sketches between now and when you submit your portfolio. The more you work on it the better you’ll get. Google sketching and gesture sketching. Read up about shading, perspective, proportion etc and incorporate that into you work.
Be sure to note on your submitted sketches the date drawn and how long you took to do the drawing. I was shown portfolios with pencil drawings that the students spent many, many hours over days, possibly weeks, to complete that, although very nice were not as highly regarded as portfolios containing a series of quick 1 to 2 minute sketches showing the progression of drawing skills improvement.
