what are considered bad sAT II scores.

Depends on the school.

i am just speaking in general. but if you want to get specific. i am an african american male, 1210 SAT. 3.47 uw. 3.75 w. and am looking to apply to duke, princeton, harvard, and uva.

There seem to be different fields of thought:

770+ will be a large advantage to any school (include HYPS). Near equivilent of 800.

750+ is probably the same as above, but not as close to being an 800.

700+ will be an advantage at most schools, and will not hurt you at any.

600s can be low for the top schools in the nation.

500s will probably be low for all schools that require the SAT IIs, as they have more standards for admission. But it may not hurt applicants at many mid-level schools.

490 and below. Unlike the SAT I, this is not the 50% area, but significantly lower. If you need these tests to get in, and don’t have wonderful other factors, study and retake.

Well bad SAT II scores for Harvard are very different than bad SAT II scores for Denison.

For the schools you mentioned, try very hard to keep them above 700, or at least 650.

yeah, i got a 550 in writing, 590 in u.s. history, and 620 in math IC.

you should aim for 700+ in all subjects since in SAT2s, you have control of which tests you take. The exception is writing, which is often required/expected.

Sorry to hijack your thread… but would 740 writing, 730 US History, and 700 lit be ok for Vassar?

i know how you feel gatechboy, i got a 540 in spanish, and a 660 in math ic. don’t know the writing score yet.
