when you take the SAT’s, is it scaled/curved to compare to your peers? would it be beneficial to take the test at a crappy public school as compared to a rigorous private school?

Where you take the test has ABSOLUTELY NO effect on your score.

I would go to collegeboard and brush up on the SAT if I were you

The SATs are “scaled” before anyone takes it; the scaling is done to make sure that tests administered on different testing days are comparable. So not only does it not matter where you take the test, it doesn’t matter when you take the test.

if the test are scaled before why can’t CB give a specific score for the practice tests?

Perhaps it’s because the practice tests aren’t tested. I think the CB tests the tests before they scale them.

And I don’t know that they “can’t”. Perhaps they can, but simply decide not to.
