Executive Function coach for college going son

Hi, I am an international parent. My college going son is struggling and I want to get him an executive function coach. He is based in LA if that helps. I would greatly appreciate any experience shares. Thank you in advance

As noted in your other post, referrals are not permitted on CC. Posters are welcome to give general advice on how to find a coach.

Any specific recommendations will be deleted.

You might ask for referrals on the parent facebook page for your son’s school. Some parent FB pages let you post anonymously.

Your son might also ask staff at the academic/student affairs office, the career center, or even the writing center for recommendations too.

We had someone we had used for ShawSon in HS and she stayed connected virtually with him for the first couple of years. She actually read his emails just to make sure he wasn’t missing things. After a couple of years, he outgrew the need.

For ShawD, we went to the Office of Disability Services and they recommended hiring (I think they paid for it) a junior or senior in the same program to help her prep for each week. This person gave her a sense of what were going to be the hard tasks coming up. She then transferred and I think I encouraged her to start the potentially problematic courses with a tutor before she needed them.

Both did very well in college and then grad school, but they needed the support early on as an undergrad.
