interesting – I wonder if their yield was lower than anticipated, the number of applications was lower or the quality was less than what they needed.

probably a good guess – but I would think that the athletic department (or music department, theater department, etc) would have done some recruiting this past fall. wonder if they didn’t do the recruiting, if those they recruited chose to go elsewhere or what.

Wait a minute, has anyone actually called Exeter to confirm that they still have openings? They might have left the door open for some grades a little longer than 9th and 10th, but that doesn’t mean the information is current. It might just be that nobody has updated the page in a few months.

The SSAT SCCA list is incomplete. Most schools do not like to advertise so widely that they still have spots and never post on there. But Exeter is advertising it on their own website, so I don’t see why they didn’t. Butgenerally, schools like Loomis, Kent, etc. will not use SCCA list even when they have openings. you have to call around, tell about your student and see if the individual school bites and encourages you to apply.

erkybk – that doesn’t make any sense at all. Are you trying to say that exeter is already full for the 9th and 10th grade for the 2009-2010 school year? They haven’t even released an application.

They clearly state on the website that they are accepting applications for this coming fall for 11th, 12th and PG. “We are still accepting applications for 11th and 12th grades and PG year for September 2008.”

Since you applied for 9th grade this year, did you parent’s actually ask about openings for 11th, 12th and PG years? If they asked about 9th grade, then – yes, they are full.

Maybe I will call and ask them on Monday, just for the heck of it.
