hi i just got accepted to the program and would like some further insight
if anyone has attended the program…
- What are the educational value to the core classes

How good does it look on college applications

How are the camp’s activities (sports, etc.)

It’s a really high quality program, but very expensive, and don’t expect it to help you with your college admissions. Any smart student with money can get in.

chris - my daugher did it last year and she really enjoyed it. I wanted her to have an academic residential experience before college.

educational value of core classes: she took
theater- not really a core class, but she enjoyed it and it pushed her limits
chinese I - she took chinese I at school this year and the summer class covered maybe 1/2 of the first year course in traditional vs. simplied writing. She breezed through the school course there was some enrichment over the summer, the professor’s wife came in and did caligraphy with them
psychology - she used this as basis to start studying for ap psych. Do direct mapping, more focused on neurobiology aspect, but good basic intro to see if she was interested in further study.

2- don’t do it for applications. They send you grades/comments afterwards but really do it for yourself and what you can gain/grow from it

3- she also did crew and then continued on the school team. Good basis to give her a head start over other novices.

Field trips and hanging around the town were good, she did some of the choir rehearsals and evening prayers, but you only have so much time…

There are some threads on here from last year and older you might want to look up.

Good luck and have fun
