I’ve been at college for 5 nights so far and I’m already exhausted. I didn’t go out or do anything last night because I was so tired. (I moved in early so most people have only been here for 2 nights and aren’t as tired.) How am I supposed to cope with the rest of college? Classes start tomorrow.

What do you think makes it exhausting for you? Lack of set schedule, partying all night, loud dorms?

If you’ve not been partying till late night, and it’s been generally quiet (assuming since you say most moved in just a couple days ago), then chalk it up to the lack of a set schedule. The moving activities and general lack of organization can get the brain tired, but once you get into a rythm of set class schedule, it should become easier.

Perhaps all the very recent changes college brings to your life - new place to live, new environment, new people, anxiety about classes - may have been a bit emotionally draining as well. You’ll be able to do it - once classes start and you develop a routine to your week, and adapt to all the “new” in your life, you’ll settle in just fine.

I’ve mostly just been socializing and exploring the city. Not really partying since it’s not really my scene.

I’m pretty outgoing when I want to be, but I think I’m introverted. I like having time alone, which has been rare.

I am an introvert myself - and I know that, for me, not having time to myself is exhausting in and of itself. : ) If you can find time to even take a brief walk alone or just listen to music - alone with your thoughts, you might perhaps find that recharging.

You will be able to handle this - give yourself time to settle in and adjust.

A lot of people get exhausted the first week or two. Most people walk a lot more from class to class which they aren’t used to. It’s also an emotionally exhausting process. You get into the hang of things, don’t worry.

college can be hard. even when you get use to it. with that being said it does get a lot easier for most people
