Hi parent cafe -
S2 (23 years old) has recently been complaining about vision issues when at work, strictly when using the computer. He went to an optometrist (near his office) that said he has perfect vision but does have Exophoria. Interestingly, 8 years ago the pediatrician sent him to an Ophthalmologist and I remember that doctor saying he had a “muscle issue” but I have ZERO recollection of him making a big deal of out it, or mentioning he needed a follow-up. Fortunately, he never had any vision symptoms/issues at all during high school or 4 years of college, where he did tons of reading and writing. These symptoms are fairly new.
Today, I contacted that Ophthalmologist and the receptionist confirmed that indeed he was diagnosed with Exophoria and that a 2 year follow-up was suggested, I now feel absolutely horrible that 8 years have gone by with no treatment! I am such an over-worrier (probably even have health anxiety) that I question whether they mistakenly neglected to give me the follow-up info as I am so mindful about that stuff. But, that is water under the bridge at this point.
I will tell him he needs to see an Ophthalmologist for a more detailed exam. In the meantime, does anyone have experience with this or information you can share? I am feeling SO guilty about not following up on this years ago.
TIA!
