Expectations from the outset

Was college what you expected it to be? Did the mosaic fragments of your memory finally fall into the right places when you settled in your place?

To me, college thus far has been overall a rather harrowing experience, full of random sharp curves and drops. I didn’t expect it to be this hollow, which is not to say I didn’t expect a callous bureaucratic system that runs without remorse. I suppose the fact that my all my fellow comrades from high school went in antithetical directions is also a reason why I feel this sense of despair. All I see are grass-like weeds on this turf.

i have no clue what you just said with all your strategically placed sat words n stuff but i just wanted to say that i expected college to suck from when i was 4 years old and i was right

If you write/talk like that in real life, then, yes, college will be a “harrowing” experience, because everyone is going to think you’re a dou(he.

I expected college to be pretty different, but also pretty great. From an objective standpoint, I can say I was right.
