I’ve posted before on CC about my D and her BF who have been together since sophomore year of HS - he is not our favorite and we have encouraged her to consider “playing the field” as have others (her friends, other family) since he is the ONLY boy she has ever dated. Long story short, she told me a couple of weeks ago that she doesn’t disagree - she sees things in him that concern her about the future but she is terribly worried about hurting him (and the hurt she will feel)…anyway, BF returns to college tomorrow so tonight is their last night together…and I expect her to be a mess when he drops her off tonight…I have to be a really, really, good girl tonight and be there for her - even though, inside, I will be SO glad for a break from this guy around my house! I feel like a heel on one hand, but also hope that my D will embrace the freedom and opportunities she has after he leaves, even just at home, to spend more time with other friends and family and to get away from “making a decision” - which is what she feels she needs to do about him (I’ve told her it doesn’t have to be cut and dry, but that’s apparently how she see it).

Wish me luck. Mostly wish her luck. And good luck to other parents and students who will be shedding tears as they leave their BF’s/GF’s in the next few weeks!

The one positive here - 4 of her best college friends are coming Friday to spend the weekend at our house - just what the doctor ordered I think to make her feel a bit better! - their first reunion since school ended in May!
