i’m seriously considering going premed and entering med school after undergrad, and i was wondering what the best method to go about doing this is. to get as specific as possible, im looking at small LACs like Bates, Holy Cross, and Trinity, all of which are known to have excellent premed programs. On the other hand, I’m also considering UMASS Amherst, for which I have a tuition waiver. Does one school really give me the upperhand while applying to med school, or am i better off saving thousands of dollars and going to state school? any thoughts? thanks!

Yes, small LACs like the ones you mentioned have a better med school placement than state schools. However, there are thousands of state school kids who go on to med school. So if you get a tuition waver(I’m not sure what you mean by tuition waver. Do you get all or most of your tuition paid for?If so then UMass Amherst would be the better option.)choose UMass. You’ll save a LOT of money.
