Experience buying estate jewlery in Manhattan/Diamond District?

Long- time lurker and previous poster under a different name.

Now looking for medium-priced (1K - 3 K, rings) estate jewelry during a quick trip into NYC.

Any recommendations?

Be careful. Make sure you know the difference between cubic zirconia and diamonds.

I have a jeweler in the diamond district but I don’t know what he has in the way of estate jewelry.

He is trustworthy though.

^^^My daughter’s engagement ring and wedding band were bought from Norman. Great guy, at age 80+,he still goes to the store 6 days a week, on his feet most of the time.Very nice assistants, not pushy at all. My son-in-law sent him a lot of referrals.Unfortunately he didn’t have something my son was looking for.

^ Small world.

Mine is from Norman, too.

If you had more time, I’ll tell you to look at Doyle’s, Christie’s East, Sotheby’s Arcade (my terms may be outdated but the big auction houses have lower priced sales). You’ll get lots of expertise and often a GIA cert. I worked at Sotheby’s jewelry dept back in the day and found my own engagement ring there (H-I color, 1.35 carats, VVS2).

Norman is the jeweler my extended family has used, as well.

My neighbor swears by Norman. Good to see other endorsements.

Thanks for all the input. I’ll check out “Norman”
