(Warning, partial rant) We have a new form to enter into turbo tax this year, and we’re unsure how to do it, so I placed a support incident with turbo tax. I provided a typed description, got a case number, and then called them. They offered to not make me wait on hold, and I took that option. They called me back about 30 minutes later.
All good so far. BUT, the woman realized my issue was above her head, and asked me to hold for a minute or two while she got a more advanced helped. She even assured me she would call me back if I got disconnected. I held for well over half an hour. Someone finally came on the line, and then disconnected me about 10 seconds later.
Anyone have any better luck with them?
My question seems simple for someone familiar with taxes. I Need to know how to enter information from a schedule k-1 (form 1041). We don’t want to make a mistake and owe money with interest years from now.
I’ve used TurboTax support twice this tax season. Both times I was connected to a tax pro who researched my issue and answered my questions, then followed up with an e-mail that reiterated what we talked about. Neither one of them knew the answer right off the bat. One of them researched it while I waited and the other one had to call me back but I’m pretty confident that they gave me the correct info.
You might try calling again because you’ll most likely be connected with a different person who may know more about the issue. I don’t know why you got disconnected but it was probably accidental.
Thanks @patsmom. I was pretty angry after holding for so long, but will try again tomorrow. I’m glad to hear you were successful.
I don’t remember having particularly long hold times but I called them in early February when they probably weren’t as busy as they are this month. And I called early in the morning.
We get K-1’s or 1041 every year. With our simpe K-1’s, I go to forms and enter it directly on schedule K-1. TurboTax takes it from there. On easy step, I believe they ask you if you have a K-1 to enter.
I can’t say anything about Turbo Tax support, but IF you have a K1 which has income in more than one box, you have to be very careful not to enter the other boxes twice. For example, we have a farm which we rent for pasture. our farm accountant generates a K-1 with rental income box of $x. But since we have an interest bearing account there is “other income”, and then there is interest. And TT makes you fill out two K-1’s one for each box… if you put in the interest from the bank on both, TT doubles that income. You have to pick which box 1 or box 3 income gets to have the other boxes.
… … … at least that is what I have done. If you have more than box 1 income (like box 1, and 3) maybe you should double check support to see what they recommend!!
