Experiences transferring as a reformed bad student?

In my teens and early 20s, I took college classes at several community colleges without ever talking to an academic counselor. I dropped many classes and got bad grades because of it.

I served in the in the military and completely changed as a student. It has been 6 years since I was a bad student. Now I get good grades. I want to take honors classes, too.

Has anyone here been through similar? What can I expect in the future when I want to transfer?

The classes you did poorly in you can either retake them to replace the bad grade, or use academic renewal to get the grade and units off your transcript. It will still appear there, but not count towards your overall units and GPA. When you transfer a university or state college will only look at transferable courses, not all classes at a community college are transferable.
I’m unsure though of what you mean by honors classes?

My college offers courses with honors credit for completing additional academically rigorous work.

I’ve never of honors credit or classes in college, but if you can do that then go for it
