<p>While my standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, recommendations, and even demonstrated interest are all up to par, my GPA is low due to...extenuating circumstances during my freshman year. Evidently, I should explain this in an essay. However, the Emory application does not include an essay prompt in which I could explain this. So how should I explain these circumstances? Thanks.</p>
<p>Maybe include an extra sheet of essay. I don’t think if you had a bad freshman year, it’s not weighted as heavily as a bad sophomore or junior year.</p>
