Hi. I have 4.0 and 1570/1600 and 800 on Math 2 subject test, but I just got a 710 on the lit subject test. If I do not retake the test but still send the score to colleges, would it be worth explaining my low score? Two weeks before the test I finished treatment for my brain tumor so I was def out of it.
No explanation. Ask your GC to explain the constraint and hope for the best. Or retake. As a possible humanities major, you generally need a strong hum score.
710 on English lit is fine. Your GC can mention it, but it’s unlikely to make a difference, especially if you have strong AP scores to report.
Agree, if you have time to retest you can. Otherwise, ask your guidance counselor to note it in his/her letter of recommendation to colleges. This way: 1) the information will be seen as verified by an independent party and 2) there is no chance it can come off like you are making an excuse.
I don’t think a 700 score will hurt you. The admissions office will see the rest of your application. No harm in having your GC address the issue though. My younger son got into Tufts, U of Chicago and Vassar with a 700 score.
