Is there anywhere on the application where I can explain why I received a low grade during a semester? (like a family emergency or something)??

You might want to try the Additional Information section

send in an additional information section or send something to your regional.

If you have a good reason, then it shouldn’t hurt you too badly. However, I missed 50% of one semester and a bunch of school in previous years and nearly died of an illness and my grades didn’t go down at all. My father is an alcoholic and is an alcohol and drug counselor (no joke)— He killed my grandmother. My mom is in a mental hospital… Life sucks!

If it was something like a family emergency, have your GC explain it. It will be more believable coming from your GC than you.

SemperSpero, I am sorry to hear that your life has been so difficult to this point, but hopefully you will get accepted at Harvard. Good luck and I pray that things will work out for your family.

I already got into Harvard.

Well, then congradulations.

Un. Believable.
This made my day.

It sure is nice to see gratitude and kindness on College Confidential!

However, my school is big 2500+ and I doubt the GC at school even remembers me. Will she still write it though?
