extra classes or second major?

I don’t know which forum this would fit in, so could a moderator please move this to the appropriate forum?

I’m a human resources business major right now, and my question is would it be better to take extra classes, or pick up a psychology major. Some of the extra classes would be from other business fields, but others would be unrelated to business or psychology. These would all be classes that don’t fill any requirements, but I’d be interested in the topics. Examples include a cryptography class and culture classes for east Asia. I would earn a psychology minor from these extra classes.

My other option is to instead add a psychology major. I have enough AP credits that it would be doable, but I could only take a few, if any, of the extra classes. I do have a great interest, but looking at the requirements, my interests are a little narrower than the full major.

What my question basically boils down to is: what would a company consider better? do they look at the classes you take, or just what’s on your diploma?

I understand that ultimately this is a personal consideration, and that I shouldn’t decide to do something solely for the reason of increasing my chances of being hired. Nor should I let a group of strangers decide my life for me. I ask so I can add this element to consider and take your advice with the appropriately sized grain of salt.

bump bump.

If you have the money to afford it then go for it, and get that second Psychology. However you did say you can get a minor in psychology, If you can do that then take that as well. It sure would do more to help than hurt.

College looks at the diploma. If your on the interview and you took a class say Cryptology and if the job is related to that, then you can talk and explain about that extra class you took and about how much you know and understand it.

Me personally I wouldn’t do it because from what I understand even with a business degree major you can get sometimes get a job with that if your applying for a job that looks for a Psychology degree.
