Extra curricular question??

Hey,

Here in Israel people often do a civil service (which is basically like a full time job at some volunteering organization - though you usually don’t do much of volunteering). However I’d like to actually volunteer for UNICEF which is not in that program - it’s a lot less hours but actually do meaningful job.

So my question is: When applying to college which “looks” better? The civil service or the UNICEF volunteering?

THANKS A LOT!!

UNICEF volunteering according to me would be better cuz most of the students who will apply would have done the civil services where as you would have done UNICEF volunteering which I would think be beneficial…
Cant you do both? That would really look good and better then doing one.

Wish you luck! :)

Hi! No I can’t do both since civil service is like a full time job, it’s 8 hours 5 days a week - at UNICEF I will be volunteering only once a week until the summer when I’ll probably go to Africa… do others think it will make me stand out as well? (Bare in mind that most Israelis choose to join the army rather than do civil service)

Anyone else?
