last evening,S along with 900+ others met on a field at USC to simultaneously yo-yo to break a world record of some sort and raise $$ at the same time to support the college radio station.
Free yo yo,free music ,free food, and 80+ degree weasther.
S said it was fun.

Sounds like fun! I wonder if my d went?

A couple of weeks ago they had a guest speaker come ( one of the many voices on Family Guy - one of my d’s favorite shows) . He actually recorded a personalized voicemail message on my daughter’s cell phone using one of his character’s voices. It is really funny. She’ll never want to get a new phone LOL
This week they have a comedian coming who was recently in Philly. My younger d just spent a bundle to see him and is ticked that her sis gets to go see him for next to nothing LOL
It does seem like there is always something going on … that’s one of the reasons my d wanted a large university.

theres a pictue in the online Gamecock newspaper from the yo yo event but no article b/c of press time for the paper. But I saw it on ABC news this morning as one of those 10 second features they do…they identified it as South Carolina but not as USC.

S is now a part of the group that brings the acts to USC…its called Carolina Productions. They also handle the speakers, the music concerts and movie schedule as well as recurring events like Homecoming,Tiger Burn.etc.
I think the Family Guy “guy” was free. Next week, someone from the Daily show will be there and also theres a music concert, ticket was $5.
There’s truly something for everyone, from comedy to politics to music.

That sounds like a fun EC ! They do seem to get a nice variety of activites. I regret that when I was in college I made very little effort to attend campus events. I did go to a few concerts and saw plays when I knew students in them, but there were probably a lot of activites that I did not even know about. My daughter seems to be a lot more proactive in that area - she even ran for student senate ( something I would never have done) . I am glad she seems to be making the most of her experience. I understand that there is a pretty strong advertising team/competition in which USC has placed very well in the past. I am hoping she will get involved with that next year ( as she is an advertising major).
I’ll have to check out the Gamecock online. Thanks.
