<p>Does anyone think it would be a good idea to write an extra essay and put it in the Additional Information section of the Common App?
Sorry if this has been covered; I ran two quick searches on “extra essay” and “additional essay” but didn’t get anything</p>
<p>personally I don’t think it’s a good idea. You already have 2 (4 if you count the common app + short response) to show exactly who you are and why you fit into Chicago. I don’t think Adcoms will be too keen on extra essays when they have up to 4 to read from each applicant already, many of which may well be very stale.
But then again, this is Chicago, so if you must and you think you cannot possibly express what you’ve expressed in this essay in any other way, then by all means go for it 
But I think the additional information section is reserved more for things like reporting AP scores or explaining special circumstances (like why you had a bad year academically or something like that)</p>
