Extracurricular Questions

). Freshmen at my high school are housed at the local junior high, meaning the extracurricular options are different than at the high school. I know that colleges like to see continuity in extracurriculars, so I’m reluctant to write down my freshman EC’s, but I also don’t want to make it seem that I wasn’t involved as a freshmen. Are my freshmen EC’s worth mentioning?

). As a freshmen, I was inducted into National Junior Honor Society, however, as a high schooler, despite the fact my GPA exceeded the minimum requirement, I was never invited into NHS. (To make a long story short, my school wouldn’t use year-long AP courses towards the NHS GPA because they refuse to allow any incomplete classes to count). Should I mention I was in NJHS or should I leave it out?

). For my senior year, I am participating in the leadership committee for an EC that I was in throughout high school. I’m not sure what to do about the weeks per year portion of the common app, since I didn’t start it yet (although I foresee that the committee will meet approximately 30 weeks out of the year). Should I write 30 weeks, or should I write N/A since the organization hasn’t met yet?

). At the end of my junior year, I began a new job. For my senior year I will be working nearly all weeks of the year year, but for my junior year, I obviouisly did not. Should I write down 52 weeks per year, or should I do a separate entry for my junior and senior year? Is this the sort of thing that admissions would look into to verify?

). There are some extracurriculars that I spend minimal time actually participating in at school, however, there is much preparation involved at home. Is is okay to factor at-home preparation into these EC’s?
