I’m a half asian female, and I was wondering if putting down that I played the viola for 8 years and was on a competitive dragon boat racing club for 6 years would play up the stereotype/ look negative on my app?
I’m looking at JHU and a couple over science heavy schools.
No extracurricular will hurt you. Focus on how you are unique compared to other applicants (who may or may not be Asian) that may share the same extracurriculars. If there’s a stereotype that Asian girls play the viola and do competitive dragon boat racing, that’s how you’ll quash it.
