Extracurriculars that aren't related to your field of interested

Is it common for someone to do activities that aren’t related to their majors? I’m going to be a poli sci major but im interested in auditioning for plays

Sure.

Activities offer a way to experiment, to try new things and learn new skills and meet new people. They offer opportunities to learn more about your own values and opinions. They can enable you to help other people and gain satisfaction from your work. Sometimes they lead to more study or a career. More often, probably, they don’t.

Even if you don’t expect to end up on Broadway someday, enjoy the experience.

No one likes a one-dimensional robot.

And seriously? How is politics NOT all about acting?? ;)

Yes, I’m a chemistry major and I do improv and theatre at my school, go for it! :)

Absolutely, It’s essential for people to branch out and try things that might interest them. That is why schools have a set of elective requirements. Experiencing new things help provide a well rounded education and discover yourself as a person.
