extracurriculars

I’m currently a junior and i’ll have about a 3.9 by the end of this year, however i don’t have many activities outside of school i work about 20 hours a week and i am trying to now get involved in the young democrats but how much does umd really look at extracurriculars?

I think Maryland is much more about your grades and test scores than it is about what you do out of class.

But you’ve glossed over something important: you work 20 hours a week.

The why they care about ECs at places where they care about them is that extracurricular activities show that you’re juggling school work and something else. Working 20 hours per week certainly demonstrates that. This is why college applications ask about your employment history. Even colleges that care more about ECs than I think Maryland does will respect working for money, and will understand that could be the reason why you couldn’t be the treasurer of Model UN, or whatever.

^^ditto…

yay thanks alot guys this really made me feel better :)
