Extreme Reach?

I applied to Cal poly slo early decision, but I’m looking for alternatives just in case. I think that UCI is an extreme reach for me. Yes? My info:

-3.40 UC gpa
-27 ACT(28 English,28 Math,25 Reading,26 Science,6 on Writing,24 English/Writing)
-560 US History SAT
-540 Bio E SAT
-job at restaurant past 2 years about 25 hours/week
-2 years in KIWIN’s club.(about 120 hours so far)
-City library volunteer about 2 summers (around 200 hours)
-11th grade Yearbook Academics Section Editor
-12th grade Yearbook Business Manager
-In-state Southern California
-Workload is unfortunately on the low side, 3 AP’s and 8 Honors
-honestly, my essays are about average, not too amazing, but not boring at the same time.

Thanks

Are you an instate?
still reach.

Yeah, I know it’s a reach, but is it like a super, super reach as in like 10% chance?

Super reach with those stats because you are KOREAN.
Why don’t you take act again in december and pull it up to 30+?
Then I think you will have 40~50% chance.

UC IRVINE is not that selective for in-state.

I know.I got off to a very late start in college awareness. And I don’t think I can bump up my act anymore, my initial score was 24 and took it a few times to get a 27.

High reach

Couldn’t hurt trying to apply. Put your major as undecided/undeclared. It might increase your changes to get in.

ohh,I forgot to mention, I kind of want to be a bio major. So undeclared might help?

Not selective? I’m going to have to disagree.
Last year, 6 out of 10 people who applied weren’t accepted and in state students constitute a vast majority of applicants.

yea, just apply as undeclared, otherwise you will go compete against bio sci applicants, which the majority of UCI are bio sci majors. You can take classes required for bio sci while your undeclared and change within the quarter after you get accepted.

15% chance…

I think you have a chance, since you said your essays aren’t that good… Well, I was going to suggest that you write really bomb ones =/ But who knows? For some reason I feel that UC Irvine tends to reject really smart people who just applied to get in… because whats the point? They are smart… they’ll probably go to Berkeley or LA, so Irvine decides to let lesssers in. Are you URM? ELC? Poor? (No offense. lol)

Last I checked, bio was not an impacted major. Half of the class are bio majors anyway
