I was on track to graduate in june 2014 and I failed my advanced modeling class. (had a c+ then bombed the final). I’m extremely depressed as the course is only offered in fall. I have been working at my internship for half a year now and they were planning on keeping me after I graduated in june. I don’t know what to do. should I change majors? Drop all together? tell my employer what happen and just postpone graduation until next fall? I have finished all my courses except for my last petroleum course which I will still take in spring. I really dont know what to do.

You only have one sensible thing to do. Graduate a semester late. You should definitely not change majors because of a few months and one class. In a few years this will not matter.

What do I tell my employer about my graduation being delayed?

The truth? But maybe find a better way to explain than “I bombed the final.” Btw, is this set in stone? You have your final end of semester grades back already?

Yes it is set in stone even emailed the professor to make sure there was no errors. 58.6%. Our engineering program has no curve.

I agree with Chucktown. It hurts now, but it will be ok in the end. Definitely do not change majors over one class. I think most people have failed at something that was really important to them. I certainly have, a few times. Be glad that you have the opportunity to try again, and move on.

Tell your employer the truth (but wait until you get your final grade). If they like the way you work, it shouldn’t matter. Good luck~
