I know this has nothing to do with columbia but i am applying to columbia and this is probably the most active sub-forum so here goes:
On common app site there’s a little info box next to each college ur appying to with info, deadlines etc…: for George Washington it says “Regular Decision: 1/15” . by chance , tonight i visited GWU website (which btw is probably the fanciest looking college website, full of flash etc…) and on deadline page it says:
"Deadlines
Application Part 1:</p>
<p>Early Decision I — October 15
Early Decision II — December 1
Regular Decision — December 1
Spring Applicants — October 1
Application Part 2 and supporting credentials:</p>
<p>Early Decision I — November 15
Early Decision II — January 15
Special Programs — January 15
Regular Decision — January 15
Spring Applicants — November 1 "
This is obviously reffering to their own app.
Does this mean I missed the deadline or does it mean they have separate deadline for common app users (as common app is neither part 1 (cause it has 1 essay) nor just a part 2 ) ???
I really dont get it… Please HELP ASAP… or just pray i get in to columbia ed ;-)</p>
<p>you should probably just call them. at least I would say so. They don’t really mind answering questions. I don’t really think any of us would know.</p>

<p>I applied to GWU as well!! Bad news: even if you’re using the common app you’re supposed to fill out their version of part one and pay them by Dec. 1. If I were you I’d call them as soon as possible, explain the situation, and appologize profusely. I think they’ll still take you’re application if you ask politely and seem regretful! :)</p>
<p>I’m not so sure cause the common app is neither a part 1 or a part 2 as i has both basic info and more detailed essay , extracuricalr stuff and the supplemnet is not really a part 2 as it has only 1 short essay and that’s it… plus i find it hard to believe that they would make such a huge mistake on common app website… I’ll call tommorow to check it out.</p>
<p>It’s on their website. It says the common app can be used in place of Part II, which implies that Part I should be filled out by all applicants.</p>
<p>damn… I didnt realize they wee that stupid that they want all basic info twice (their part 1 and common app) … Now what do I do? can I call,explain the misunderstanding, and have them acept my part 1?</p>

<p>if you read my post from the beginnig you’d see that it doesn’t mention part 1 deadlines on commonapp.org so I am appealing to your infinite kindness to just tell me if you know of any school that wants a part 1 (basic info) by Dec 1st…</p>

<p>i just know of the UCs, pomona and stanford to have a december deadline for RD (even that i’m not ENTIRELY sure about cus i’m not applying to any of them…)</p>
