Eye Waivers

If you need an eye waiver do you have to qualify or compete with others for a certain amount? Also, if I get into USNA will they do or pay for PRK/LASIK surgery?

a limited amount of waivers are awarded. You can get surgery, if you qualify for it (as in the surgery can be done) around your third year. according to my resources (BGO officer)

what’s an eye waiver?
and about how people get the waiver?
How do you get the waiver?

also about what time would you know that you get the waiver?

I got my eye waiver on the 17th. I’m one of the first people that I have heard about recieving one, so I don’t know about that. Getting an LOA sped it all up, I think. The guy said something about how it’s not a percentage anymore and they changed raoudn the qualifications. You can get one if you vision can be corrected to 20/20. DoDMERB will send you a letter saying something aout Waiverable (see item 9). But like I said, the guy I talked to at DoDMERB said that wasn’t really applicable anymore, just that they didnt’ change the system completely for class of 2011 candidates but they will have by next year.
