Eyeliner

I’m 61. I have pretty blue eyes, I’ve been told.
Am I supposed to line my lower lids or not? My top lids are old and crepey and droopy. I don’t bother with more than eyeliner and mascara. Do you “do up” the eye shadow if it can’t really be seen?
Thank you.

Just turned 50 and plan to line my lids with light pencil until they bury me :-).

I use Bare Essentuals liner shadow:

[Liner Shadow | Eye Makeup | bareMinerals](http://www.bareescentuals.com/bareMinerals-liner-shadow---Coffee-Bean/USMasterLinerShadow,default,pd.html)

and apply it with a MAC angled eyeliner brush. I use it dry, and it is very subtle. I use it on both upper and lower lids, and sort of push it into the base of my lashes. I find that pencils drag too much on my skin.

I used some new eyeliner yesterday, and 2/3 into my work day went into the restroom to run a pregnancy test (on a patient’s urine, not mine  ). There were hideous black smudges underneath my eyes! I went out to the nurse’s station and said accusingly, “THANKS so much, people- for not telling me that I look like I just filmed a sequence of Tales from the Crypt!” I got one feeble “oh…I really hadn’t noticed. Sorry.”

Won’t be using that stuff anymore.

I wear pretty strong glasses and can’t see much of anything close up without them. I’ve never been able to apply eyeliner in a straight thin line so I go without. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any tips?

Lighted magnifier mirrors or the magnifier glasses that let you flip down one side at a time.

I’ve tried a lighted magnifier mirror but still couldn’t see well enough. Maybe the magnifier glasses would do it. Thanks for the tip!

I use navy eye pencil on the outer 2/3rds of lower eyes. The skin on my upper lids has become too loose to apply a straight line. The only way I can draw a straight line is with a small hand held magnifying mirror.

I found this video of how to apply eye makeup for women with sagging upper lids and it was an eye opener  [HOW TO APPLY EYESHADOW TO HOODED/ASIAN EYES/ALMOND EYES - YouTube](<a href=“HOW TO APPLY EYESHADOW TO HOODED/ASIAN EYES/ALMOND EYES - YouTube”>HOW TO APPLY EYESHADOW TO HOODED/ASIAN EYES/ALMOND EYES - YouTube). He says to line both waterlines, and to use matte darker shadow on the upper lid to help it recess. I’d always used liner outside the lash line - never realized it should go inside. Takes a steady hand but this new liner handles quite well. (FYI, I’m also 61.)

I bought myself a set of brushes (which I’d never used before) at Ulta along with a new liner ([Infallible Never Fail Eyeliner - Cream Eyeliner - L’Oreal Paris](http://www.lorealparisusa.com/en/Products/Makeup/Eyes/Eyeliner-Brow/Infallible-Never-Fail-Eyeliner.aspx)), limited myself to neutral instead of colored shadow, and was delighted with how my better my eyes looked.

That would be me. I wear contacts, but if I try to do anything other than mascara (and sometimes even with that), it either gets in the eye or on the contact. So I have no tips, lol!

Marilyn, that seems like a LOT of work to me, LOL. But the difference really was amazing.

This thing costs a small fortune, but lasts way longer than the 6 months recommended for keeping makeup, and is really user-friendly even for such makeup klutz as BB. I apply it to the waterline (not above the lashes!) of the eyelid and do not do anything on the bottom:
