F/asip

I’m applying for the F/ASIP and I was wondering about the chances of getting in the program.

Also, how useful is it? If I didn’t get in/didn’t want to take it, would I still be able to find an internship the summer after my frosh year?

FASIP is first come, first serve (unless something is terribly wrong with your app).

Yes, you can find an internship after your freshman year without doing F/ASIP. You just have to do it yourself.

F/ASIP is great for making sure that you are prepared to get an internship. It is not that because you take it, you will get an internship that you wouldn’t before, but it helps out a lot.

The reason it helps is that it gives tips on resumes and cover letters and interviewing but MORE IMPORTANTLY, makes sure that you have all of this prepared and finalized before you would need to. It is built in time management.

So if you do F/ASIP, can you do a Freshman Advising Seminar? I assume the two combined would put you over the credit limit.

You can do both, F/ASIP does not give you units until second semester.

Thanks to those who responded. Earlier, I wasn’t sure if I should bother to apply and participate in the program if it didn’t help very much, but now the time management guidance looks good to me!

usually admission to FASIP is first come / first serve

Sunshyne, I would definitely say it’s a good idea. Personally, I got my internship outside of my work done with F/ASIP, but my resume and cover letter and mock interviews were done well in advance so it made the process a breeze.
