FA with 2 in college & Study Abroad

<p>Scenario: S1 is looking at attending a study abroad program in the fall for which he will get credit from his university. However, he is required by the school to take a LOA to do this because it’s not a University-sponsored program. His school will not grant FA during this time. </p>

<p>However, S2 will also be in college and is supposed to be getting FA. We’re wondering how colleges for the sib who is staying in the US handles FA when the other student is overseas at another institution earning credit. (The study abroad is through a US college, it’s just that S1’s college only provides FA to students who attend its own programs.)</p>

<p>Just curious to hear how other schools and families have worked this so we have an idea on how to deal with the colleges.</p>

<p>Since the study abroad is through a US College, I would think that S1 will be “enrolled” in that school in the fall, and that school should be able to provide some sort of enrollment verification and COA info if needed. </p>

<p>Every college has its own policies so you really need to contact the financial aid department of S2’s college and ask.</p>
