What if a person had accidentally created an account with a mistyped phone number and with a mistyped email? and then what if that person doesn’t need that account anymore since they don’t want to go to college? Mistyped username, mistyped DOB. But correct ssn and correct Address is in the account. That person doesn’t know the passcode so how can the person get into the account and disable it? that person even tried the challenging questions which didn’t let the person get into the account. If the person calls the Fafsa administration, they will assume this person is a fraud but made a mistake since the person had a low intellectuality disability.
If the person doesn’t need the account, there is no reason to do anything.
Are you asking theses questions because you did this or is this a hypothetical question? Or are you asking for a friend?
That’s a lot of mistakes to make.
no, am just asking like what if
There isn’t anyone actively monitoring the information, so a messed up account that isn’t used will just sit there - no one will reach out to the creator.
On the other hand, if the creator needed to use it in the future, they would have to jump through a lot of hoops to fix their mess.
MODERATOR’S NOTE
A ton of “what ifs” in one post. Moving thread to café to keep FA forum clean for real issues.
Thanks for replying everyone. Am just asking and curious
If you also made all those mistakes when getting you FSA ID, you’ll never make an account at all. The SSA has to match up you SS# and DOB.
