Fafsa and Bogw Questions

Hi.
I am currently attending a community college in California part time and have a few questions:

What is fafsa renewal?
If I ran out financial aid, will I be able to renew fafsa and get more money?
If I ran out of financial, will I be able to still apply for the bogw?
Is there a limit for the bogw?
What can I do if I ran out of fafsa at community college and want to go to a university?

You need to complete a FAFSA every academic year. Did you do the FAFSA for 2019-2020? It has been available for completion and submission since October 1.

Could you clarify what you mean about running out of financial aid? Your financial aid for the 2018-2019 school year is what it is. The only additional aid you can receive for this academic year would be the Direct Loan…but that’s if you did not already have it. Are you saying you have run out of money for THIS year?

How many years have you been getting financial aid?

Are you Calgrant eligible?

@Gumbymom is there a FAFSA deadline for the BOGW?

@Citrus97: @thumper1 has answered questions 1 & 2. For the BOG, the application window for the e-BOGW will be open until the last day to add/drop classes for primary session classes. Please refer to the academic calendar for the deadline dates.

Students may also submit a FAFSA (https://fafsa.ed.gov) or a California Dream Act (https://dream.csac.ca.gov).

To use the e-BOGW, you must have a current application for admission on file. If you do not have a current application for admission on file you need to apply.

What CC do you attend and can you go talk with your financial aid office?

Yes i did complete the 2019-2020 Fafsa.

Back in 2015 I applied for fafsa and received pell grant for a community college and was awarded 3,872, I only went for a few semesters and still had money left.
I recently moved to another city and transferred to another community college applied for fafsa since fall 2018. I was awarded 5,445 and it says that I have 3,062 left.

Will I get in trouble since I received pell grant in one community college and then transferred to another community college and received another pell grant?
If it says that I received 5,445 and it says that I now have 3,062 left, what does the fafsa renewal do?

Sorry if these questions sound dumb:)

You must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every school year you want to be considered for federal student aid. The Renewal FAFSA is a way for you to save time and reapply without having to fill out the whole application each year. Much of your information is carried forward into a Renewal FAFSA.

If you submitted a FAFSA last year, you may be able to start a Renewal FAFSA using your FSA ID. You must update any pre-filled information that has changed since last year and provide the financial information requested.

Only you, the student, can start a Renewal FAFSA using your FSA ID.

Your lifetime eligibility for Pell is 12 semesters. You can use it at different colleges, but when you reach the maximum number of seats semesters you’ll no longer be eligible whether you’ve finished your degree or not. @kelsmom might be able to tell you how to find the percentage of your lifetime eligibility that you have left.

How many years is BOG good for? 2 years? 3 years? It’s not forever.
