Fafsa, css, idoc, ncp

I know FAFSA is used to determine your EFC, but what are the other three forms for? Could someone give me a brief synopsis? Thanks in advance.

FAFSA is used to calculate your EFC for federal aid purposes. The other three help the Profile schools come up with an EFC for institutional aid.

Oh I see!!!
So on college board when you use the EFC calculator and you choose Institutional Methodology, is that what the other three are?

Well, that what the Profile reflects…sort of. The reality is that Profile is just a data gathering tool - some schools also consider the NCP, but most do not. IDOC is just for verification. Once the schools have that data, they are free to look at it in any way that they choose. For example, some may consider home equity or retirement, but others do not. To really understand/estimate the IM EFC for a particular school you first need to read their website and try to find out what their policies are.

I understand, thanks :D

Too many things to do =</p>
