If my fafsa efc is 13,000… Does that mean UAlbany Suny Cortland Umass and Buffalo will meet that?

No. None of those schools guarantees to meet full need for all accepted students. You are guaranteed a Direct Loan of $5500. Are you TAP eligible? If so, that will help at the NY schools (assuming you are instate for NY).

If you are OOS for UMass, you will be facing a large bill, most likely.

That $13,000 should be viewed as the minimum you will be expected to pay.

Yes, I am TAP eligible. I just want to be able to afford UMASS if I get in.

That’s what your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), what you’re suppose to pay, not what the school is suppose to give you

UMass does NOT meet full need. You are an OOS student. It is not likely that IMass will give you need based aid to make up the difference between their OOS costs and your EFC.

Did you do the Net Price Calculators for any of these schools? If not, do that. If your parents are not self employed, don’t own rental properties or,real estate other than your home, and are not divorced, the NPC will give you a good estimate of your net costs at these colleges.

Thumper is right. You’re an OOS student. UMass charges higher rates to OOS students because your parents don’t pay taxes there. Would it make any sense for a school to raise its prices to OOS students and then give all those students the money in need based aid to cover that higher cost? Why bother raising the price? Wouldn’t doing so drain their resources? Yes, it would.

Some OOS publics will give merit awards to OOS students as an incentive, your stats aren’t high enough.

You will likely get nothing from Umass other than loans and maybe some tiny amount.

Have you ran the NPC for UMass? If not have your parent do that.
