FAFSA help

<p>I’ve received the Pell Grant for two years now, but since I skipped a semester I will be needing to apply again to finish my AA (might be an AS).</p>

<p>And thanks for the attitude. Have you considered that maybe no one knows the answer to your question? Your situation is hardly common. But if you make the small effort of calling the FAFSA helpline and asking about how to handle common law marriage, you’ll have all the help you need. A call to the financial aid office of the school you plan to attend would also make sense.</p>

<p>You are never a dependent of your spouse for FAFSA purposes - you are either a dependent of your parents or independent. Taxes have nothing to do with it. See:</p>
