So, because of an internal family issue, and a lot of miscommunication and such, my father was not able to us lot the FAFSA to any of my schools until about 25 days after the listed due date. I have contacted these schools, and have been told to file an appeal to have my FAFSA considered as though it were on time. However, I have heard that the appealed ones do not always get the same amount as you would have before, or as my counselor called it a “modest amount compared to full amount”. Now, I was wondering if this is typical to all situations, or just the prestigious schools, or anything like that?
You can still receive your federal entitlements like Pell grant, if eligible and your student loan. But if your missed the deadline for you school no one here can tell you if they will give you additional aid any longer.
In another thread, you mentioned applying to Purdue OOS. Frankly, it wouldn’t matter if you submitted FAFSA early or late as an OOS student for Purdue. Purdue doesn’t give need based aid to OOS students.
Your counselor’s words are a bit misleading. She is suggesting that you would have gotten the “full amount” if you had applied on time. Not likely for any school because FAFSA only schools don’t often “meet need”.
What is your FAFSA EFC? How much can your family pay each year?
Did you apply to ASU or UAz? If so, did you get your aid pkg from there? Do you qualify for state aid for an AZ school because of your grades and scores?
I did not apply to those, but I applied to NAU which is making me take everything in loans, which isn’t an option. NAU isn’t nearly a good enough school to justify that. But another school, Xavier university, offered me nearly everything
