<p>My kids name is too long >16 characters for the form (electronic and paper).
The entire last name IS on the soc sec card. What should we do? If we truncate the name in the fafsa form will it not be flagged as not matching the SS card name? thnx</p>
<p>Our family’s hyphenated last name is always truncated to 15 char. on College Board accounts (SAT & CSS Profile) and FAFSA and doesn’t match Social Security names. Has NOT been a problem for FAFSA and only one college out of 8 didn’t match items with application. A quick phone call resolved that.</p>
