FAFSA - Number in College (Question 74) 2019-2020

My stepson who lives with us will be entering 2nd year of college. My daughter (lives with her mother) will be entering her 1st year of college. I enter my child support payments in question #93b as they are substantially more than the $4,400 deduct. Can I report my daughter in Question #74 if I don’t include as part of household on question #73?

Thanks!

Not that easy when Child Support payments are part of the mix.

Well, are you providing more support for your daughter than her mother?

@kelsmom?

If your daughter isn’t included in the question #73 answer, she can’t be included in the question #74 answer. FAFSA is clear about this.

Your daughter must be a member of your household for you to count her as a student in college on your stepsons FAFSA form.

That is is how I interrupted the questions. I contacted FAFSA who gave me the answer of “Yes,sir.” Followed by info that it takes 2-3 days to get FAFSA accepted.

The “yes, sir” was an answer to what question?
