FAFSA Question

I had question about the FAFSA form.

Dad has 2 kids- David and Jeff.

1) David is a freshman in college. Mom is custodial parent. College considered both incomes when determining aid and indicated, when asked, the contribution of each parent. Dad pays 1/2 of parental contribution in accordance with the school’s recommendation.

2) Jeff is a high school senior. Dad is custodial parent.

When filling out the FAFSA for Jeff, can Dad claim the college tuition for David as child support?

If not, is there any way Dad will get credit for paying tuition of David in the determination of financial aid?

No, Dad cannot claim the tuition as child support because it is not child support. Sadly, Dad will not get credit for paying David’s tuition.
